Do you notice anything different when browsing this blog, maybe the boost in performance?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well that’s down to the underlying hardware hosting Slowergram being upgraded to a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, from the original Zero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, the upgrade wasn’t as smooth as planned. I had assumed I could simply swap out the original SD card and boot using the Zero 2, and with a simple port forwarding reconfiguration on the router have the site up and running again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However after powering on, I just couldn’t see the new Pi joining the WiFi network. As I run headless I was blind to what was happening, although from the LED it seemed the card was being read ok. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore I needed to attach a monitor, and it showed that it had lost all network\/wlan0 configuration. After a quick addition, it popped up on the network and I could forward access to the blog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From initial non scientific benchmark tests, it certainly feels quicker and more responsive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next issue I had was putting it back in its case, as a slight change to the Zero 2 board meant that the Pibow case from pimoroni<\/a> no longer fitted flush. This was solved with a pair of pliers and removing this section:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Slowergram is now back happily at home, thankfully with no power issues, being supplied by USB port from a powerstrip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
