RPi – Cluster Case

As my collection of RPi4 k8s nodes has increased, I needed to bring a bit of order and tidiness to the setup. The best way to do this, I thought would be to house them in a stackable case.

After a bit of searching I found this set from the Pi Hut, which allows for multiple stacks, and is fairly cheap. A nice touch is that it includes some fans, however as my POE HATs already have them I won’t be adding them here, so if you need some fans for your set up, hit me up.

A small issue I discovered when putting the cases together, the screws intended to attach the Pi’s to the perspex were a little too short, as the solder legs got in the way a bit. Although wasn’t too much of a problem as I used a couple of the larger screws meant for the top of the case to attach each Pi.

The struts are a good size and give ample room, even with the POE hat installed, however there are extenders included should you need them.

As mentioned previously, I will not be attaching the supplied fans to this case, but the holes cut in the perspex in readiness are a great fit for the POE fans, allowing good airflow.

Each cluster kit allows for 2 Pi’s to be added, so I bought 2 kits for my setup. After adding the 3 Pi’s it now looks like this.

With the cluster up and running, it looks very neat and tidy, especially as I am powering with POE, so cuts down on the amount of cables needed.

Really happy with the cluster case from the Pi Hut, and would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a similar stackable case.
